Freebie in England

Freebie passed away on 21st May 2007 at his home in a beautiful part of France where he was adored by his owners Sandrine and Pierre.  

He left his legacy behind in at least twelve champion children to carry on his line.

Freebie was so named as he was the result of the prooving litter of Milesend Dancing Major and Dippersmoor Delicious - so you see he was a "freebie"!!!   Freebie was always a special Sheltie or Sheltie as I prefer to call them. Out of the beautiful Ch.D. Delicious he combined her beauty and conformation with the equally strong points of his father.  Freebie also had that extra something which some call charisma which made you look at him.  Mum is still going strong aged nearly 15 and, although a little unsteady on her one front leg, still has that beautiful head and is in really good condition belying her years.

As an 8 week old puppy Freebie had the most beautiful head and expression and was so well balanced and a natural show-off.  His personablity was adorable.  He could take off vertically from a standstill to see over his kennel door which would always make us laugh.  Freebie only went to one championship show whilst in my ownership when he won the Puppy Dog class under Phyllis Rigby, and his mum, D.Delicious won her second CC under the same judge that day.

Freebie was just over twelve month's of age when I agreed to sell him to Mm Van de Hole in Belgium.  I waved goodbye to him with a tear in my eye, but I knew that he was going to really turn heads and make a mark for himself in Europe.   This he certainly has done.  A list of his winning children is given below:

Freebie spent the last few years of his life living with Sandrine and Pierre in France, and I was delighted to visit them last September.   I am convinced that Freebie recognised me, the greeting was somewhat reserved a first and then just to tip of his tail flicked - I could have cried.

Freebie came over with his handsome son Anakin Sky Walker Jedi des Romarins de Mayerling (JJ to his friends) to spend some time with me in Devon after the English Championship Show 2006.  It was such a pleasure to have both boys here, they were a delight to have a round and so well behaved.  Although Freebie was not keen to mate my two bitches (probably the tumour which none of us knew he had played a part in this) but his son Jedi did the honours and I have three delightful puppies here to represent Freebie's lines, indeed one golden sable dog reminds me very much of grand-dad.

Freebie you were a pleasure right up to the end.  We will all miss you.
