Dippersmoor History

I had always wanted my own dog as the only dog my parents allowed me to have in my pre-teens years unfortunately was run over aged only 6 month and they then said no more dogs. I used to make up for it by taking neighbours` dogs for long walks and loving every minute. My parents said that the first thing I did when taking my first steps on Woolacombe beach was go straight across to some people with a dog and I would not come away, so it would seem that dogs (and indeed most animals) were in my blood so to speak.

I didn't have any own dog (a Sheltie of course) until the early 1970`s, I bought her for the princely sum of £5 as she was the runt of the litter. This was Sally!!! My husband didn't take any notice of Sally for the first two days as he didn't want me to have a dog, however in true Sheltie style Sally decided she was going to stick like glue to my husband and in very short time she won him over. Through a friend at work I was introduced to Walter Allen (Allensway) and used to go round to "talk Shelties" on a regular basis. When visiting one day he showed me two beautiful pups he was running on a bitch and a dog whose pedigrees had both Jefsfire and Lythwood in them. I fell head over heels for the bitch and asked that if ever she should be for sale could I have her, I felt this would never happen but it did and a few month later she became mine! Her name is Allensway Bitta` Sweet (Lucy). Lucy became my foundation bitch and did well in the show ring, she taught me a lot as she was a natural showgirl. Unfortunately on the breeding side of things she did not fair too well and lost more puppies than she ever reared, but her children was fantastic! One of the daughter  CH Dippersmoor Debutant took CC and BOB at Crufts 1978 aged 10 month and was when exported to Sweden where she produced a beautiful sable shelties and became a foudator of Champions family in kennel Starbelle

From then until about the late 1990`s I remained as keen and competitive as in the early years making up breeding four UK Champions, including CH Dippersmoor Diester who took Best In Show at the English Shetland Sheepdog Club Ch.Show 1985 and then returned the following year and repeated the success. Also many National / International Champions abroad, including the first Grand Champion in South Australia  GR CH Dippersmoor Dawn Song and great stud dog INT CH Dippersmoor Dignified in France.
